Services we offer include, but are not limited to:

Preventive Health

Each pet is as individual as their owner. Therefore, their individual needs may vary. Our staff will recommend methods of maintaining a healthy pet through preventive therapies. We believe in being proactive rather than reactive when it comes to your pet’s health.

Preventative Care Exams

A yearly exam will help to monitor the health of your pet, particularly as he/she ages. These exams also play a large part in early detection of conditions where early treatment provides the best options for your pet. We think of this annual exam as a preventive "physical" for your pet. Vaccines, intestinal parasite testing, heartworm/tick disease testing, and feline leukemia/FIV testing are usually done at this time. The teeth and gums of each pet are also checked with recommendations for scheduling dental cleanings if needed. Skin, ears, eyes, and orthopedic issues are addressed as well. These annual exams ensure the best opportunity for a long and healthy life.

Comprehensive Examinations for Illness/Injury

A complete thorough physical exam will be done on your pet along with taking a complete history of the your pets symptoms and your concerns. We can then put together a diagnostic and treatment plan specifically for your pet, and discuss with you in detail any test results and how we feel we can best help them. At this time, we can also provide you with an estimate of fees for our recommended procedures.

This technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs to help further diagnose your pet's problem, or to determine pregnancy.

Vaccinations are given when needed, by the doctors or staff, and are usually done at the time of the annual preventative care exam. We will discuss recommended vaccines with each client. For new pets/clients, we recommend bringing your pet’s most current vaccine information to the appointment. Vaccine reminders are mailed out prior to their due date to allow the owner time to fit an appointment into their busy schedules.

We provide a variety of routine dental services for your pet, including cleaning, polishing, and digital x-rays. We also can help with those non-routine services involving extractions and treating pockets around the teeth. The dental health of each pet will be graded by our doctors at each exam to determine his/her dental cleaning needs. Our team tries to educate every pet owner in proper preventive dental care as well. Our team can also discuss the many dental hygiene products that are available and find the best option for you and your pet.

This can be one of the most frustrating issues as a pet owner. At Country Veterinary Service, we provide thorough skin and coat evaluations with accompanying diagnostics such as skin scraping, cytology, and allergy testing. This allows us to treat varying conditions, such as environmental and flea allergies, skin infections, or mites. Treatment might include special diets, shampoos. or similar products, and medical management with pharmaceuticals.

Drug Monitoring

Your pet may need medications as part of his/her continued care. We have protocols in place to monitor the extended use of certain medications, efficacy, possible side effects, and possible drug interactions. Our staff will monitor these medications so that you can be informed and comfortable with the drugs prescribed for your pet. They will keep you informed of drug monitoring blood work for the safety of your pet using medications long-term. For your convenience we have an in house pharmacy and an online store with very competitive pricing.

Parasite Control

Country Veterinary Service recommends an annual intestinal parasite test to screen for various parasites that can affect the health of your pet and your family. Dewormers will be recommended based on those results. You can be assured of the efficacy and safety of these medications when prescribed by your doctor specifically for your pet.

Monthly heartworm and flea/tick prevention is also recommended year-round. Some of these preventions also have intestinal parasite protection. Our technicians and doctors can help in choosing the best options for your family and pet.

Some of the most common parasites are:

  • Roundworms
  • Hookworms
  • Giardia
  • Coccidia
  • Heartworms
  • Fleas and Ticks
  • Tapeworms
  • Whip Worms

Pet Microchipping

Country Veterinary Service provides microchip implants (a device about the size of a grain of rice) that is injected under the loose skin between the shoulder blades to aid in the identification and recovery process should your pet become lost or stolen. A specialized scanner reads the coded chip. You can schedule most of these implants as an office visit or they can be done at the time of a scheduled surgical procedure for a $5 discount.
